Connect is a ministry that FCCV is working to launch in the near future. The goal and mission of this ministry is to provide a safe space for young adults and families to explore and discover God as part of a diverse, open, and social justice focused family that seeks to live out the mission of Jesus through contemporary worship, authentic community, and service.
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
The First Congregational Church of Verona charters our local Cub Scout Pack 32 and our local Boy Scout Troop. Each month the scouts meet together to learn how to be good public citizens and have fun. They go on camping trips, learn first aid and outdoor survival skills, and much more!
Our church supports the work of the Justice Network, a faith-based group that works to combat human trafficking. We sell our Fair Trade crafts at their events and hold sales at our church to benefit Rahab's Rope, a group that helps women and girls in India escape from human trafficking.
Bridge of Faith is a program that collects gently used clothing, school supplies, bicycles, children's books, and used sewing machines and medical equipment and sends them to schools, orphanages and a maternal-child health clinic in Awka, Nigeria. We also sponsor a Mathematics Academy for advanced students, sewing classes, mathematics contests for primary and secondary students, and a football (soccer) tournament for secondary schools in the city. To support this ministry, we sell African crafts at churches and church meetings, environmental events, and other venues.
Most recently, Bridge of Faith has delivered food, hygiene supplies, face masks, and flashlights to people living under bridges in Newark and Irvington.
Serenity Montessori Academy, a tenant in our building provides preschool education and childcare to children from toddlers to kindergarten. The curriculum compliments the existing Montessori philosophy, allowing each child to experience abstract and concrete lessons throughout the day in areas of language, mathematics, geography, science, art and music integration and peace education. Our approach creates balance between self-directed activities, multi- age group participation and small classroom structured activities.
